Matt Anderson

Matt Anderson joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in April 2021, following a 27-year career in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Colonel. Matt understands the challenges and opportunities associated with life in the military and is committed to helping service members and their families get their financial lives squared away. Having worked in business for the last 10 years, he has a keen understanding of how to incorporate employer benefits into an individual financial plan as well. He splits his time between the Shawnee and Leavenworth offices to meet clients where it is most convenient for them.

Matt has a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from the United States Military Academy and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Administration from Central Michigan University. He holds Series 7 and 66 security licenses plus life and health insurance licenses in Kansas, Missouri, and 15 other states.

Understanding that the biggest obstacle to financial security for most people is their own behavior, Matt serves as a personal financial coach to clients, continually reinforcing positive financial behaviors. He advocates time-tested financial principles, including disciplined, long-term saving and investing, careful debt management, and a thoughtful insurance strategy to manage financial risk. Matt will work with you to establish specific, meaningful goals that are consistent with your values and then develop a personalized financial plan to guide your pursuit of those goals and lifetime dreams. He takes pride in proactively developing tax efficient distribution plans for his clients.

Active in his community, Matt is a member of the Kansas City Chapter of Financial Executives International and co-founder of the Greater Kansas City Veterans Career Fair, among many other organizations.

In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and participating in other sports-related activities.
